We contribute to the enhancement of urban value through reliable energy supply and decarbonization.
MM21 DHC was founded in October 1986 to enhance the environmental performance of Yokohama’s Minato Mirai 21 District by efficiently supplying energy in the form of district heating and cooling, and thus support the development of a safe and comfortable community.
We have stably delivered high-quality heating and cooling at a low cost for over 30 years.1 Today, we serve Japan’s largest single DHC area in terms of energy sold and floor area served.2
In recent years, climate change has gained close attention as a global risk, giving rise to rapidly growing demand for decarbonization of energy supply. At the same time, the role of energy supply as an essential service has become even more important amid the stronger focus on community disaster resilience in the years since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
Minato Mirai 21 was designated a Decarbonization Leading Area by the Japanese government in April 2022, and a variety of initiatives are being implemented to make the district a model for decarbonization of large cities through public-private collaboration.
In line with this endeavor, we revised our 2030 Vision to set forth the goal of “Contribute to decarbonization and effective BCP for Minato Mirai 21, to become the district’s heating and cooling supplier of choice.”
Looking ahead, we will continue striving to increase the value of Minato Mirai 21 through reliable supply of energy as we grow together with this community.
- The 40th anniversary of the launch of the Minato Mirai 21 project was marked in November 2023.
